the art of window displays
03/01/2010

"Redefining everything we ever thought about window shopping, these creative window displays will stop anyone in their tracks. As a mix of art, fashion, design and marketing, they not only have to quickly grab our attention they must compel us to enter a store. By giving people an experience, these displays also have the important duty of helping define a brand's image. As window displays have started becoming more like amazing art installations or fantastic scenes from a movie, we can only imagine the time spent beforehand - conceptualizing, planning and installing. How wonderful is it, though, when your art comes to life...like this?"

mimijumi - very hungry baby bottle
28/11/2009

This baby bottle, named “Very Hungry,” is designed to look like a breast so babies have an experience as close to the real deal as possible. The packaging is shaped like a milk carton to represent what is held within the product. The graphics on the package of the “happy” milk drops are designed to evoke the pleasure that babies get from being fed. The window on the front panel exposes and creates appeal for the bottle inside the carton - more infos here

24/10/2009

“For the first time we dare to face the world completely naked. We launch a bottle with no label and no logo, to manifest the idea, that no matter what’s on the outside, it’s the inside that really matters. The bottle visually manifests our belief in diversity and our standpoint when it comes to sexual identities. Off course it is also a wonderful piece of delicate and minimalist design, a true collectors item” says Kristina Hagbard, Global PR Manager at The Absolut Company."

"Frog Queen, or the Prisma Engineering Headquarters (a machine and motor technology company) is located in Graz, Styria, Austria. Its facade was designed by SPLITTERWERK and looks like one giant pixelized box. Even the facade itself is practically a square. However, if you look very closely, you will see that each one of the pixels has circular patterns screenprinted on its face. Overall, the exterior features 10 shades of gray, and the square windows seem to blend into the rest of the pattern."

555 kubik - facade projection in hamburg
02/09/2009
555 KUBIK
"How it would be, if a house was dreaming"
The conception of this project consistently derives from its underlying architecture - the theoretic conception and visual pattern of the Hamburg Kunsthalle. The Basic idea of narration was to dissolve and break through the strict architecture of O. M. Ungers "Galerie der Gegenwart". Resultant permeabilty of the solid facade uncovers different interpretations of conception, geometry and aesthetics expressed through graphics and movement. A situation of reflexivity evolves - describing the constitution and spacious perception of this location by means of the building itself.

ink calendar by oscar diaz
02/09/2009

"Ink Calendar make use of the timed pace of the ink spreading on the paper to indicate time. The ink is absorbed slowly, and the numbers in the calendar are ‘printed ‘ daily. One a day, they are filled with ink until the end of the month. The calendar enhances the perception of time passing and not only signaling it. The aim of the project is to address our senses, rather than the logical and conscious brain."

the new audi logo
27/08/2009

„Now likely to become part of the Auto Union brand - which will also include Volkswagen, Porsche, Skoda, Seat – Audi has mildly revised its famous four-ring logo. Ironically, the four-ring logo once applied only to Auto Union well before Audi was swallowed up by the Volkswagen Group. The new logo is ever so slightly different from its predecessors, benefiting from a more three-dimensional, chrome-like appearance, and Audi has officially revised its font to a more standardized sans-sarif style placed either below or adjacent to the four rings.“

video: cover creation
11/08/2009
„After working on the latest cover for Macworld Magazine I wanted to show what is involved in making a cover. I focused on the three main areas: the photography, photoshop and design. I chose a time lapse format to convey lots of information in a small amount of time. The only drawback of time lapse is that since half a day goes by in 30 seconds, the whole process seam so easy! Lots of details were left out of the design process (like the cover meetings and rounds of layout options). I began to photograph the design process after the layouts had already been narrowed down to just three cover designs.
On the technical side, for the time lapse video, I used the Canon 5D Mark II with a 24mm-70mm zoom. I chose the 5D because of its great image quality with high ISO's. Canon's sRAW1 gave me the flexibility of a RAW file with the file size of a jpeg. The actual Macworld cover was taken with a Phase One P65+ digital back attached to a 4x5 Sinar X camera with a 65mm lens.
Many thanks to Rob Schultz for allowing me to invade his office and literally shoot over his shoulder.
The music was used with permission by The Brokenmusicbox.“

video: urbanized typeface
30/03/2009
„There are many fonts named as the city name inside the machintosh PC. Almost these are made by Apple Co., Ltd. The reason why the city name is just quite image of characters shape or the place where the person lives who made the font. So there is no reality or necessity. Then I made the font that has a reality greatly named "Shibuya2008". Which each characters shape are made according to the figure of the city Shibuya, Tokyo. First, I was running around Shibuya with a GPS data logger by bicycle. The running course was the shape of font characters. The GPS logger recorded global positions once per a second as a data of number. By doing so, I made all of characters (A~Z, numbers and symbols). The characters are no existence but quite huge. Then I was converted to GPS's digital data into vector data(.pdf) by using a programming. Each figure of characters are imported to software of font and finally these are became a useful font completely and also it has a reality.
My main subject of making is researching "graffiti". Also cityfont project is one of a reseach about graffiti. I always aim to catch the essence of graffiti through my own work.“

Designed to accommodate 12 guests in extraordinary comfort and style, Oculus is a long distance cruising yacht capable of speeds upwards of 25 knots. The exterior styling is representative of the jaw and eye socket bone structure of large oceanic fish and mammals. Featuring a dramatic reverse bow configuration, the yacht’s armature balances an elegant expression of symmetry and structure. In addition to the bow, Oculus also features a “low rider profile”. This slightly lowered surface allows for new side recreational areas, alternate dockage access and light cruising openness.“

luxofor traffic lights design by art.lebedev
25/11/2008

„The shape of traffic lights has barely changed since they were invented—there have always been three round lights: red, yellow and green. Initially, the sections were round simply because this allowed the spherical bulp inside light the glass evenly.
Today traffic lights use superbright light diodes that can be arranged in any way. And the sections are plastic, which also means any shape can be created.
Our idea is to produce square traffic lights. This can make the signals more easily noticeable and recognizable, with larger lit area for the same overall dimensions.“

greatest works of light graffiti
01/09/2008

„Cast your mind back to childhood celebrations when sparklers lit the night air; people everywhere drawing paths of orange and red light in the night sky, creating jagged lines and swirling patterns with nothing more than a flick of the wrist, mesmerizing anyone who looked on.
Fortunately we no longer have to wait for frantic festivities; artists have spawned a new movement in light art, or light graffiti, as it’s become known. Through time-lapse photography artists are able to capture the ephemeral, organic qualities of light making it seem somewhat more real, more alive.“

„Welcome to the world of reverse graffiti, where the artist’s weapons are cleaning materials and where the enemy is the elements: wind, rain, pollution and decay. It’s an art form that removes dust or dirt rather than adding paint. Some find it intriguing, beguiling, beautiful and imaginative, whereas others look upon it in much the same way as traditional graffiti – a complete lack of respect for the law. the lonely prada marfa store
03/01/2008

"A surreal installation of real Prada store in the middle of the desert outside of the town Valentine in West Texas near Marfa, USA. From the artists:"
"...the combination of a vast, open desert landscape in an un-populated area and a luxury goods store is completely unthinkable. Nature suits fashion as a visual backdrop, as one often sees in advertisement. the minimal, corporate prada design and the desolate surrounding ranch land make a great impression together, but simultaneously the two forces also render each other useless."

the pixel house
31/12/2007

"The Pixel House is an interesting project designed by Mass Studies and has an innovative design and a curve like geometry. It just looks like each pixel of stone jelled together to create this astonishing building, which apparently gives you an effect similar to that of a 3-dimensional picture."

sinnerschrader geht web 2.0 radikal
10/12/2007

"Seit heute erstrahlt ganz SinnerSchrader in neuem Glanz.
